One of the unique things Christians believe is that God became one of us.
John 1:14 says, "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us..."
Christians believe God was one of us, just a stranger on the bus - somebody who for 30 years lived undercover as a carpenter, surfaced as a miracle worker/rabbi for three years, and allows Himself to die in the most degrading way imaginable. He came as on of us, but was treated as less than one of us.
The first reason we discovered last week, in a conversation between Jesus and the 12 was to COMMUNICATE and DEMONSTRATE what God is like. This week, we'll see that God sometimes chooses to display His power through our pain.
Jesus is the elevator of our dignity!
